Location: Mitochondria float free throughout the cell. They are found in both plants and animals.
Structure: A mitochondria is formed by three things; an outer membrane which covers and protects the organelle, an inner membrane which is folded over many times, and a matrix which is the fluid inside of the inner membrane.
Function:Mitochondria are like the power factory of the cell. They take in nutrients and convert it into ATP, also known as energy.
